Off-duty police officer Omar Edwards was shot and killed by a plain clothes cop. Edwards was pursuing a car thief with his gun drawn when he was spotted by three other plain clothes cops. One of the officers fired six times, hitting Edwards twice. It’s not clear whether a warning was issued. This tragic case attracted extra attention as the incident occurred in East Harlem and the dead cop was black and the shooter was white.
