“I want to represent my country, and to be one of the men like Neil Armstrong and Yuri Gagarin, who showed with all humility what it is to be a good human.” So says Fareed Lafta, who just might be Iraq’s first man in space. He recently went back to Baghdad to squeeze some flesh in the Iraqi parliament in the hope that they’ll sponsor him as the first Iraqi cosmonaut.
Lafta loves extreme sports and plans to skydive above Baghdad soon. He’ll be the first civilian to do it since the war began.
