Dr Conrad Robert Murray

LAPD are talking with Michael Jackson’s live-in doctor, Conrad Murray, after he contacted the police after being “missing” for around three days.  Police stressed he was not under criminal investigation – he is not under arrest. Jackson’s family initially expressed concern that the singer died from an overdose of the morphine-like drug Demerol.  Jackson’s doctor, Dr. Conrad Robert Murray, is believed to have given the singer an injection shortly before the cardiac arrest.

Murray, a cardiologist licensed to practice medicine in Texas and Nevada, had been living at Jackson’s rented LA mansion. TMZ report that the doc spent time trying to revive the singer until paramedics arrived on the scene.

Murray’s spokesperson said: “Dr. Conrad Murray “helped identify the circumstances around the death of the pop icon and clarified some inconsistencies. Investigators say the doctor is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy.” However, there was no acknowledge of his bizarre decision to “disappear” after the death of his client.

Later the Jackson family stated that his daily use of prescription drugs may be a factor, implying an OD was not to blame.Michael Jackson Doctor

The Jackson’s family lawyer said: “This is not something that has been unexpected because of the medications Michael was under. This family has been trying for months and months and months to take care of Michael Jackson. The people who had surrounded him have been enabling him. If you think the case with Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, it’s nothing in comparison to what we have seen taking place in Michael Jackson’s life.”

The U.K.-based Sun website was first to suggest Jackson’s death may have been caused by Demerol – a powerful drug similar to morphine. They quote an unnamed source: “An emergency room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol.”

LAPD confirmed they towed away the Conrad Murray’s BMW from Jackson’s rented LA home.

On June 26, authorities released the emergency 911 call from Michael Jackson’s home.
